After spending about 40 hours on planes or in airports this month alone, these 7 apps have been oh-so-handy. So, I thought I would share my 7 must-have apps to survive those long flights+layovers.
Oh Hopper, you are a gem. Ever looked at flights only to check back and panic when the price has gone up?? I don’t totally understand how flight price algorithms work, but Hopper tracks flight prices and will tell you the best time to book! All you do is enter in your approximate travel dates and location (or you can track specific flights too!), and it sends you notifications when the price drops/when it thinks the best time to book is! We managed to book our flights to Europe this way on a flash sale (saved us over $200 each!).
I always forget about this one and end up frantically trying to download before loosing connection at take off. Sometimes I find it’s just another app on my phone, but some of them have great resources+free entertainment to browse through on those long international flights. If you’re a keener and have it on your phone in advance, you can check in, view flight status, and have your boarding pass on there too.
Did you know you can now stream movies+tv shows offline?? Best. Thing. Ever. I usually get oh-so-inspired when traveling, so spend a decent chunk reading, writing, and working… but sometimes you need a little downtime or to make the time pass a bit faster. Having the option to binge-watch your favorite tv show is pretty great… or watch Notting Hill on your flight to London. ;)
This one is basically a travel planner! If you have a gmail account, it automatically stores+sorts your travel information by trip from any flight, hotel, or rental car information. Have all you reservations in one place, check out things to do, save places, and make day plans. Did I mention you can download so you can view offline as well??
This is a fun one. Save those go-to or essential phrases offline before you go… or type it in and translate if you get stuck when communicating with a local.
I have my husband to thank for this find. There are so many notepad or to-do list apps out there, but here’s why this one is my fav:
Regardless whether you buy a data package when traveling internationally or not, save maps offline! Put away those big bulky maps that scream ”tourist” and travel like a local.
What are your favorite resources while travelling?? Comment below! Would love to hear about them! Questions always welcome too. xx
