January 1, 2013. Where were you? What were your hopes? Dreams? New Years resolutions??
These past couple weeks I have been a bit frustrated. frustrated at goals that didn’t happen. frustrated at the ”glorification of being busy” and the lack of time in a day. Amazed at how quickly December seems to fly by every year and how those Christmassy events or projects get pushed until next year. Wishing for X, Y and Z. Blah blah blahhh.
Prepping for this blog post made me laugh. As I scrolled through my Instagram feed, it ignited the thousand words behind each of these photos. Memories I wouldn’t trade. Moments I wouldn’t necessarily be able to remember or look back on if I was concerned about hauling out my camera or getting my settings just right. And yes, even smiling at the endless instagram posts of my DAVIDs Tea cups or days spent writing+working from Starbucks. ;)
Despite the things I ”didn’t” do… this past year was filled with so much more.
2013 was a year full of blessings.
2013 was a year of travel and checking things off my bucket list.
2013 was a year of meeting new friends, and realizing who is there when you need it most.
2013 was a year of challenges and learning.
2013 was filled with moments that shaped ME.
I think one of the biggest things I have learned in 2013 is just finding joy in the ordinary.
Realizing that yet again, despite the beautiful locations, expensive lenses, or stunning light… my treasured photos from 2013 are the goofy ones, the fun ones, the spontaneous ones with people I love.
…
