“Travelling~ it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.” – unknown
Sometimes I take a photo. A “selfie” if you will. Not because I did my makeup or I am having a good hair day (I wasn’t!). But simply because I want to remember the moment. Not just the stunning landscape, but the story behind it. The adventure.
I want to remember that Sunday afternoon I turned the music up and just drove. Drove down a new road to that town I picked at random on a map because it had a cool name. Just because. Stopping along the way. Changing my route. Driving some more. The moment I “arrived” and turned back around. That afternoon I spent weaving through California mountains with the windows rolled down and hair blowing everrrywhere. How when I saw a bit of a shoulder, I pulled off to see if I could find the ocean. The moment climbing over the railroad tracks and the makeshift trail to the path less travelled. But I found it. The ocean. And it was magical. I want to remember filling my lungs with the ocean breeze and being still. Still out on the edge of a cliff with the waves crashing against the rocks beneath me. Still with no distractions. Being still with eyes wide open. Experiencing life. Life at its fullest. Thanking God for these moments.
I want to remember the peace in my heart. My full heart. Full of freedom. Full of grace. Full of adventure, and full of beauty. Beauty found in the little things. The freedom that can only be found when you let go of your thoughts. Dreams. Plans. And embrace that very moment for what it is. A simple one, but in that moment, I was made to explore. To breathe, and just be.
