”Lucas and I met each other years ago without knowing we had met each other at a big gathering of friends. We were sitting at different tables, and I was with my boyfriend at the time. I do remember noticing him because he was wearing a bright red shirt that said “SPOON”

We then met for real at a party where he regaled me and some friends with stories of his tragic dating history (seriously, he has a string of crazy ex’s). He had noticed me earlier and had asked a mutual friend who “the tall redhead” was and if she was single. I was seeing someone at the time, but things weren’t going well with the guy I was seeing so my friend told him I was seeing someone, but she knew I was planning to call it off, so she told him that I might soon be single.

A week after breaking up with my ex I got a nice Facebook message from him asking for my phone number so he could call and ask me out on a date. He did, I said yes, and the rest is history. We were and still are inseparable. Our relationship progressed really quickly. I met his parents a couple weeks after we started dating, and he met mine a few weeks after that. We started building a life together right away, dreaming about the home we would make together, the wedding we would one day have, and our future children.

We got engaged in July of 2012 at my mum and stepdad’s wedding. He asked my mum permission and they made up a plan that I would catch the bouquet, then he would sweep in and get down on one knee. Again, he asked, I said yes and now here we are, happily married!”

Lucas+Jessica’s backyard wedding was so unique and personal. Loved it. From their wedding being held at Lucas’s parents home (the home Lucas grew up in and his Father built himself), to all the beautiful ”woodsy” DIY details Jessica put together. Lucas and Jessica are such a quirky, kind and compassionate couple. They both have such big, caring hearts which was evident in the way they valued and treated each of their guests… and the many beautiful, touching and emotional speeches throughout the reception from family and friends. I have honestly been blessed with the sweetest and kindest couples around. Seriously. Lucas and Jessica are no exception.
