I believe music has the power to instantly take you back. To make you wonder, remember; to feel. To be inspired and remember that teenage girl- dreaming, wishing, hoping for the day when you could be…
Last night, I was watching a TV show with my family. As the episode was closing, a song came on in the background. A familiar song. A favorite song. A song I have heard many times, but I surprisingly haven’t listened to in a while. Now it helps that it was my favorite TV show… and one of my all time favorite songs (brownie points for you OTH)… but what got me thinking was how it instantly brought me in. It completely grabbed my attention and flooded my head with the dreams of a girl I once knew. Isn’t it crazy how music (or other things) have the ability to submerge you back to a place… back to the girl you once were?
This album inspired me. With this album came the beginning. This album also brought the end to many things. This album holds many memories and will even accompany my youngest sister as the music to her upcoming dance routine. I can remember the first time I heard The Fray. Lying on my stomach on my colorful bedspread in my crazy bright turquoise room. I was looking for something… for someone to get it. I grew up with this album. I learned. I watched. I loved. I dreamed.
“It’s the oldest story in the world. One day, you’re seventeen and planning for someday. And then quietly without you really noticing, someday is today, and then someday is yesterday. And this is your life.” -NS
Music inspires me. Today I want to share with you the soundtrack of my life- The Fray’s second album, The Fray. Now, I am a lyric girl. I use songs as the titles to my blog posts. I love music. I am definitely not musical… and I am ok to admit that I am not the next Celine Dion in the making. However, my steering wheel and I have some pretty rad concerts. ;) Now, you may be thinking “umm… there is some crazy girl here talking about music. sooooo weird.” You may not understand or think why the Fray?? BUT. The point I am trying to get across is: what is your thing? What inspires you? What speaks to you and gets your heart so excited that no amount of words could ever express or anyone could understand?
I believe music has the power to instantly take you back. To make you wonder, remember; to feel. To be inspired and remember that girl- dreaming, wishing, hoping for the day when you could be… and would be… HERE.
What inspires you? For me? …It’s song lyrics.
