This trip had been talked about since my sister Cailey moved to Oahu, Hawaii back in December. Between Hawaii themed Christmas gifts sent for our future trip, skype calls and snap chats, we were all pretty stoked to see Cailey and explore her new (hopefully short term) home.
My parents+Cassidy booked their flights months before, so they flew out in the morning and Dustin and I headed off to the airport that afternoon, hours after getting engaged. With two plane tickets ready to meet up with my family for a week in the sun, hanging out in airports+above the clouds with this guy for the first time was pretty great.
Makapuu Point Hike and Tide Pools.
With my sister Cailey living on Oahu, it was pretty rad having the local inside scoop. Loved adventuring with my family and literally climbing down the side of a mountain to get to the tide pools at the bottom of the cliff. The water was oh-so-refreshing after hiking in the heat.
Sandy’s Beach.
Between the huge waves, or local vibes, I think this one was my favorite.
We got out of the car to watch the sunset from a lookout point. I left my camera in the car so I could enjoy it, so naturally, D grabbed my camera to play around. Second shooter in training?? I think so. :) <3
Lanakai Beach.
Cailey… I’m pretty jealous of your new backyard.
Maunawili Falls Hike.
Checking for raptors+T-Rex’s with every movement in the bushes (ok not actually ;)), this hike felt like we were in Jurassic Park… probably because part was filmed there. Cailey’s “it’s only a twenty minute walk…” was more like a full afternoon exploration, but cooling off in the waterfalls and walking through rivers along the way was fun nonetheless.
The West Side.
We drove to Koolina for a day of snorkelling, turtles, and exploring the mermaid caves until a few sharks decided to change our plans… so we explored and watched the sunset instead.
BEACH daysss at Waikiki. My little sister is pretty rad.
The North Shore.
Roadtrips. Surfing. Food trucks. And chasing sunsets. Don’t know how we pulled this off (!!!).
Until next time.
