”Most of our life is a series of images that pass us by like towns on the highway. But sometimes a moment stuns us as it happens and we know that this instant is more than a fleeting image. We know that this moment, every part of it, will live on forever.” – Lucas Scott

We hopped in his car. Fresh off the airplane in long pants after leaving the falling snow at 4am that morning. California sunshine glistening off our faces accompanied by permanent smiles from the excitement of being THERE, in California. The beginning of a chapter. A simple week out of our lives; part of our story that would challenge us and bless us with community– a gift I never knew I needed.
With the windows rolled down, a car jammed back with the luggage of three women, and hair dancing in the wind. We drove.
He cranked up the music. We laughed. We rapped. We sang and danced and bobbed our heads to the music. And smiled. And soaked it in.
He gave us a tour, a great one in fact, of the places, the people; his home.
We were here. In California. In Santa Barbara– one of my favorite places in the world.
I came across this photo months later (one I never knew existed). I was reminded again, how it proves to be true– the power of photography. How it can take you back to a place; a moment that made you feel so grateful to be alive.
This moment… it stunned us. It was MORE than a fleeting image.
This moment will live on forever.
